Tales by Washington Irving - Musica de los Siglos XIV al XIX
Tales by Washington Irving - Musica de los Siglos XIV al XIX
This is a recording made with historical music for the Tales of the Alhambra by Washington Irving. Of the 34 chapters in the book, we have taken only two in which the music is just as important as a protagonist as the characters, the consecutive tales “The legend of the three princesses” and “The legend of the Rose of the Alhambra”. The idea was to capture the atmosphere of Wahington Irving’s experience in Granada and his circumstances through music from different eras: nazari andalusi melodies and Arabic poems, 15th Century Christian love songs from the time of the conquest of Granada, baroque music from the time of Philip III and Philip IV (who is also one of the main characters in the second legend), right up to the romantic music of the time of the author at the beginning of the 19th Century.
