It is the largest collection in medieval Europe of praises to Saint Mary in the vernacular language, or in Latin. Each song with text and original music is unique. Cantigas kept in Madrid, in the Codices of the National Library and in the Library of the Monastery of San Lorenzo de El Escorial, of King Alfonso X of Castile and León, 1121-1284. The Cantigas de loor a Santa María, for the first time all together and in their order of composition, according to their codices. This brings us closer to the biography of this poet and musician king, and to his mystical and religious feelings in his gigantic project of composing praise and praise for his protector and muse, Saint Mary.
