The starting-point of Karin Haussmann's composition is unusual sound: even though they are produced with quite conventional instruments. She sought material related to vocal fricatives in instrumental sounds. The decisive factors in this were either tonal similarity or analogous sound production, like the friction between surfaces. Each of the processes - the analysis of certain sounds and their synthesis into new ones – engenders the other and they always run parallel.
