Music for Martin Luther
Although Ludwig Senfl (1486-1542) – court composer to Emperor Maximilian and later to Duke
Albrecht IV of Bavaria – always served Catholic masters, he was in close contact with Martin
Luther, the great Reformer; from Luther he received a personal letter requesting music for a
particular text.
Here Wilfried Rombach knowledgeably assembles Senfl works with an “interdenominational”
association and a close personal connection with Martin Luther.
