Les Nations: La Piémontoise, L'Impériale Treizi?me Concert ? 2 instrumens ? L'unisson Préludes 2 and 3 from L'Art de Toucher le Clavecin
The music of François Couperin ‘dit le grand’ (1668–1733) has for many years been recognised as one of the supreme legacies of the French baroque. Revived in the nineteenth century by the French pianist Louis Diémer and the celebrated Polish pianist and composer Ignacy Jan Paderewski, and edited by no less a ? gure than Brahms, his keyboard music was the ? rst of his output to be rediscovered. His chamber music only became known in the 1930s when Éditions de l’Oiseau-Lyre brought out a monumental edition of his works, amply prefaced by its editors. It would by no means be overstating the case to suggest that this publication altered our view of the baroque period of musical history. St Bartholemews Church, Orford, Suffolk 29-31 October 2004
