While the violin duets op.9 and op.13 were written by Louis Spohr to meet the demand of the publishers for conventional teacher -pupil-play literature, the following duet collections opp. 39 and 67 are clearly more demanding works, not only in regards to technique, but also in terms of composition. The two violinists Ursula Schoch and Tjeerd Top present here the first installment of their complete recording of the duets opp.39 and 67.
