Elke Völker has received a broad musical education in Germany, France, and in the US. She studied organ, piano, harpsichord, conducting and church music. She has worked over 15 years as Cathedral Music Associate at the St. Marys Imperial Cathedral of Speyer, 2009 she was nominated interims Music Director.
Her specialization in the organ works of Sigfrid Karg-Elert has resulted in the world premiere recording of his complete organ works. The project earns high praise from critics and public alike, the recordings are described as "Highly recommended" by the English magazine "The Organ". In this ongoing project, the sixth volume is now available. It contains books no. 3 and 4 of the composer's « Chorale-Improvisations » op.65 (based on chorals for new year, easter, ascension and pentecost).
