This 1999 recording showcases the artists at the peak of their musical abilities. The 83-year-old Kurt Sanderling pulls out all the stops for one of Anton Bruckner's most famous symphonies, and the Radio-Sinfonieorchester Stuttgart des SWR is clearly happy to oblige. The result is a first-rate interpretation of great orchestral power and agility.
