Hildegard of Bingen, one of the most remarkable female figures of the Middle Ages, maintained a lively wriQen exchange with numerous religious and secular dignitaries. The long-untapped treasure of surviving leQers evidences not only her influence on important poli>cal and socio-cri>cal issues of the 12th century, but also a deep-felt companionship which she shared with her correspondents. On this CD, ALA AUREA follows the leQers of Hildegard with unique interpreta>ons of her music. ALA AUREA is comprised of Maria Jonas and Susanne Ansorg, who create arrangements of medieval music for voice, fiddle, tambura, shru> box and glockenspiel. They are joined in this recording by colleagues Bassem Hawar (djoze), Philipp Lambrecht (bells), Sebas>an Pank (soprano saxophone) and Ars Choralis Coeln.
