Alexander Soares embarks on a traversal of the four Tippet Piano Sonatas, and programmes them with music by composers who influenced Tippett, and a composer who he, in turn, influenced. On this album, the 2nd and 4th sonatas are programmed with Beethoven and Knussen. Soares’ previous albums for Rubicon include the epic piano sonata by Frank Bridge, the Berg Sonata, and the rarely performed Variations by Britten. His debut album ‘Notations & Sketches’ programmed Boulez, Messiaen and Dutilleux.
