The choral art has been fertile ground for creative minds throughout history. Looking back, musicians have attempted to describe and categorize the methods and various periods of development. It is sometimes difficult to properly classify modern composers with specific musicological terminology – especially those who have been so influential as to develop entirely new methods and styles of composing during their careers. Even so, classifications such as minimalist, serial, post-modern and neo-romantic have been used to describe several of the composers on this recording.
