Schumann:
Dichterliebe, Op. 48
famous Lieder cycle by Robert Schumann in a version for cello and guitar & all poems recited by actor Hanns Zischler & Michaela Catranis:
About Love and Death. Four pieces for cello and guitar

CD1 Music only
CD2 Music & Recitation
An innovative and sensitive encounter between poetry and music: a double album with Robert Schumann's song cycle "Dichterliebe" in an unusual arrangement for cello and guitar. CD 1 features the music, CD 2 the music in combination with the poems by Heinrich Heine on which the composition is based, read by the well-known actor Hanns Zischler. This unique project is rounded off with the cycle "On Love and Death", four compositions by Michaela Catranis (*1985).

JERZY CHWASTYK: Praised by critics as a "master of breathing and vocal line on the guitar" (Pizzicato Magazine), as "a lyricist with wonderful softness" (Crescendo) and as a "young guitarist with a great future" (Melomano Digital, Madrid), Jerzy Chwastyk stands for sensitive and poetic playing without any showmanship. He has won prizes at many important international competitions and his three CD releases to date have received much critical praise and attention worldwide. As a soloist and chamber musician, Jerzy Chwastyk is present on stages throughout Europe. Jerzy Chwastyk was born in Wroclaw in 1986 and grew up in Poland. He has lived in Berlin for several years.

SUSANNE SZAMBELAN: Polish cellist Susanne Szambelan was born in New York in 1993 and grew up in Poznan. At the age of 15, she made her debut with the Kansas City Symphony Orchestra. This led to numerous solo performances throughout Europe. In 2013, she released her debut album with Dvořák's Cello Concerto and is described in reviews as an "artist of enormous sensitivity" (Longplay). Her deep passion for chamber music has led to collaborations with the Vogler Quartet, Daniel Hope, Noah Bendix-Balgley, Latica Honda-Rosenberg, Claudio Martínez Mehner and frequent performances with the Karajan Academy of the Berlin Philharmonic.

HANNS ZISCHLER: Hanns has appeared in over 200 international and national films and worked with directors such as Jean-Luc Godard, Wim Wenders and Steven Spielberg.

MICHAELA CATRANIS: Michaela Catranis' work can best be described as both poetic and evocative; combining delicate lyricism and polyphonic textures with explosive, occasionally brutal musical gestures. Michaela was born in 1985 in Princeton, New Jersey. She lives and works in Berlin, where she also founded the interdisciplinary performance ensemble menajiri.
