Hunting has played a central part in the cultural history in France. Along with its long and colorful history came a musical culture developed over centuries. These recordings feature a selection of the most popular french hunting music pieces, including a Mass for St. Hubert to celebrate the respect for the prey, musical impressions of the hunt and its surroundings and a collection of fanfares and hunting signals all played in traditional style on historical hunting horns and trumpets.
