Fernando Sor (1778-1839) revolutionized the way of composing for the guitar: His works not only reflect a deep understanding of counterpoint and polyphony reminiscent of Haydn's influence. His innovative technique, from the use of natural harmonics to polyphonic textures, also transformed the guitar into an instrument capable of producing a spectrum of orchestral sounds.
