Late in 2006, an all-star line-up of friends who love playing chamber music together joined to celebrate the Dmitri Shostakovich centenary in style at Vienna’s legendary Musikverein. Onyx was there to capture the results: these stunning performances of the 'Piano Quintet Op. 57' and the 'Piano Trio No. 1'. As an added bonus, Julian Rachlin was joined by his long-time musical partner Janine Jansen - one of Decca's hottest stars - for the delightful but rarely-heard '5 Pieces for 2 violins and piano', arranged by Lev Atovmian. Still only 33, Rachlin is one of today’s most admired violinists and has recorded for Sony, Warner and DG. He is now forging an ongoing relationship with Onyx.
