Die Walküre is the first release title in the cycle of Richard Wagner’s Der Ring des Nibelungen. Conducted by Valery Gergiev, it features a sensational cast helping create the most finely crafted Ring cycle of modern times. Wagner and his music have close connections with the Mariinsky Theatre, and it is believed to be the first place where any of the music from the Ring was performed. The Ring was the pinnacle of Wagner’s long and turbulent career and without question one of the greatest achievements in opera.
