David Geringas is considered by many music fans as the greatest cellist since Mstislav Rostropovich, whose longtime student was Geringas. This album brings together nine of the most beautiful recordings that Geringas has recorded for hänssler CLASSIC and in this way forms a wonderful tribute to this great artist who celebrates his 70th birthday on 29 July 2016th The repertoire reflects Geringas versatility contrary: From the famous second Cello Sonata Felix Mendelssohn on immortal melodies of Jean Sibelius (Valse Triste), Edvard Grieg (Solveig's Song) and Walter Braunfels to the composers of the 20th and 21st centuries, the Geringas as inserting dedicatee of their compositions. The booklet includes an interview of journalist Jan Brachmann (inter alia SWR2 / FAZ), who led with Geringas a very enlightening conversation to an international career of the soloist, which will delight his fans.
