Vol. 5 was organized around the theme of "Schumann and His Daughters" – a virtually unknown chapter in Schumann’s life. Therefore, it is only logical for volume 6 to include "Album for the Young" – one of Schumann’s best known works. As the works Schumann wrote for his daughters show, he could write well for the abilities of children, not just as in the famous "Kinderszenen" – about children. Even in the "Album for the Young", the composer does not look from the perspective of an adult on the world of children, rather it stimulates their imagination. The "Album for the Young", composed in 1848, ends appropriately with the "New Year Song" and thus heralds in the particularly fruitful compositional activity of 1849.
15 CDs have already been planned for this, the first truly complete recording of the two-handed piano music of Robert Schumann. The brilliant German pianist Florian Uhlig will present all the original piano works from 1830-1854 according to the latest text-critical documents and/or first editions through these thematically organized and conceived CDs. Many of the CDs will also contain both CD and world premiere recordings.
