The violinist Annette Unger has already made several highly praised CDs issued by GENUIN, and her new release is also off the well-beaten path. Schumann's Violin Sonatas still occasionally turn up on concert programmes, Mendelssohn's less frequently and those by Gade hardly at all. Be that as it may, all these pieces are wonderful, romantic enrichments of the standard repertoire, and the duo partners take every opportunity to let them sparkle. The pianist Dariya Hrynkiv is every bit the equal of her violinist colleague; together they tame these luxuriating forms, giving contour to the dreamlike music and making it shine!
