This Edition Primavera release produced in cooperation with the German Music Council includes Poulenc's passionate, restless, sugar-sweet music, glowing variations by Messiaen, and Beethoven's boisterous Sonata No. 8, played by the prize winners of the German Music Competition. It is all too obvious why the jury chose these two artists-the vibrancy they conjure up from the score captivates listeners and engulfs them in the music.
