Thomas Gainsborough: Brief an - letter to Henry Bate 0 :57
The recently rediscovered „Pembroke-Collection“, which belonged to the student of Abel, Lady Elizabeth Herbert, Countess of Pembroke and Montgomery (1737-1831), contains 14 hitherto unknown viola da gamba works (ten sonatas and four duos for viola da gamba and cello) by Carl Friedrich Abel. He composed these works for himself and his talented student. The special thing about it is, that these expressive pieces are late works, whose fingerings are an example of Abel‘s special play. The viola da gamba player Thomas Fritzsch is the first one in the world, who, for COVIELLO, records these sound-masterpieces.
