Valentina Toth (1994, Leeuwarden). After VWO (high-school) combined with classes at the Prins Claus Conservatory and the Ferwerda Academy, she presently studies piano at the class of Ellen Corver at the Royal Conservatory. She followed international masterclasses with renowned musicians such as Malcolm Singer and Ruth Nye and a.o. in the Netherlands with Jan Wijn and Ton Hartsuiker.



Since she was 12 years old Valentina played piano and chamber music in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Greece, Austria, UK, Italy and the USA.



She received the first prize and grand prix at the Damwoude Pianoconcours, first prize and audience prize at the National Princess Christina Concours in The Hague and the first prize at the International Music Competition Stockholm. Amongst others, she was finalist of the Steinway Concours and YPF piano competition, where she soloed with the Enaccord string quartet.



Highlights were the opening of the Eem & Weem Festival and the Pianomarathon in the Oosterpoort, Groningen (new grand piano), playing at the Hungarian commemoration 1956, the Grachten Festival in Carré, for the American Community Trust in Carnegie Hall, New York (at the age of 15), live on TV for Menahem Pressler (Edisongala 2009) and the Uitmarkt Amsterdam in the Concertgebouw.



Valentina plays with Fréderique Purnot (cross flute) in Duo Spring Friends, in trio Menotti (first prize at Kamermuziek Festival Hoorn 2012), and Sextet Pieters Angels. She is regularly asked for other ensembles. She played with the Nationaal Symfonieorkest and and piano and celesta in Jeugd Orkest Nederland (JON) and Viotta Jeugdorkest in the Netherlands, Germany and Italy. She soloed with the Fries Symfonieorkest and the Haydn Jeugd Strijkorkest in the Netherlands, Italy and live in 'DVD HJSO' in Mozarts 12th piano concerto and with the Bazuin in Gillinghams Concert (World premiere; live on Frisian radio).



Her partly Hungarian background and growing up in bilingual Friesland as well as performances in professional musical theatre gave extra impulses to her music. Since 2009 Valentina is youth member of the honorary board of Musicians without Borders, an organization helping traumatized children from different cultural backgrounds to share the beauty and strength of music.
