Fanny Hensel (1805-47) is one of the most important composers of her era. It is particularly tragic that - after years of maturity and long hindrance of adequate public perception - the first publications of her works under her own name occurred only a few months before her death at the age of only 41. The compositions recorded on this CD span the time frame from 1821 to 1846, only four of which are available in recordings to date, the remaining eleven of the total of 15 pieces selected by Sontraud Speidel are first recordings.
