This recording tells the story of encounters between some of the most celebrated pianist-composers during the first third of the nineteenth century. It seeks to show how much value was placed on musical rivalries among virtuosos of that time, and how the desire for musical competition seemed to come natural to them. Here, Riko Fukuda and Tobias Koch demonstrate the naturalness with which musical ideas and concepts were presented and exchanged in a climate of friendship and mutual respect.
