The instrument used for this recording dates from 1913, and this fact is mentioned before all else because the choice of the instrument is inextricably linked to the work selection on this CD. The three works by Robert Schumann, played by Caspar Frantz, selected for this recording, are quite dissimilar in some ways and yet closely related in others.
