Hiromi Ikei, born 1983 in Japan, received her first musical instruction on the piano at the age of five. She continued her education at the Jo-Gakuin College of Music in Fukuoka, Japan. In 2001 she enrolled in the class of Konstanze Eickhorst at the University of Music in Lübeck, Germany. It was there that she developed her interest in ancient music. On her present CD she interprets Bach’s music on a modern piano in a personal way as well as in a correct style – like a historically informed architect who seeks to preserve, rather than to dismantle, ancient buildings.
