Between the works by Henze and Mozart there is a point, where Bach is the starting point in the musicological relationship. The music of Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach (1714-1788) is a very creative basis for Hans Werner Henze's (1926-2012) musicalaesthetic view of history and his compositional work. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart‘s (1756-1791) relationship to the 42 years older, and yet at the same time composing Bach, however, must be described as ambivalent, since there are hardly any explicit references to Bach's works.
