Georg Philipp Telemann's trio sonatas were already regarded by his contemporaries as "models of their kind". The composer, who has been underestimated for too long, makes masterful use of the baroque formal vocabulary and plays imaginatively with the possibilities of the genre. The ensemble Compagnia Transalpina focuses on his trio sonatas with wind instruments and presents here all surviving sonatas with recorder and oboe as well as two quartets in which a violin is added. Dynamics, joy of playing and the timbres of the historical instruments used distinguish this recording.
